He just stayed by the road while I took picture after picture. I wouldn't advise him to be this close to road during hunting season. I have more pictures of him here. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom of the album.

Yes, I am still alive and kicking. Yes, I did miss another week, but I have been very busy with other activities.
About the photo. Charlotte and I noticed that the light coming in the windows was very odd. I went outside to take a look and found this. As you can see in the EXIF data, it was taken at a very wide angle and this picture doesn't do it justice. Fortunately this storm cell is passing south of us even as I post this blog. I'll probably be keeping an eye on the weather for awhile tonight. It has been a very stormy sort of day, maybe I will blog about that sometime soon. Don't hold me to it though.
NOTE: You should be able to click on the picture and get a bigger version, I don't always allow this, but this time is an exception.

I am sorry about missing a week, but I had computer trouble, which made it difficult to post my pictures.
Can anyone identify this flower?
P.S. Is that a monarch caterpillar in there?

I think I would like it, but there are those nasty power lines. I suppose I could photo shop them out.

If there is one thing I would do different with this picture, that would be to bring the horizon down just a tad to follow the rule of thirds. I was in a very awkward position though and didn't have many options for camera angles. I was set up on a rock out away from the shore a little bit.

Photo of the week (May 6, 2010)
Camera: Nikon D5000
Lens: 18 - 55 VR
Shutter Speed: 30 Seconds
Aperture: F5.6
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 55mm
White Balance: Shade
This photo wasn't taken this week. I reserve the privilege to go as far back in my archives as I like to find something that stirs my interest at the moment. Actually this picture is a little over a week old.
The photo you see here, is more about an idea than composition. I experimented with a flashlight and a long exposure. I used the flashlight to light the tree from the one side. The rest of the light you see is either the yard light or a town off in the distance. I hope to have time to do more of this. It opens up a whole new window of photo ideas.

Photo of the Week (May 2, 2010)

ISO: 200
Focal Length: 18mm
Exposure Bias: -1 Step

Saturation turned all the way up and Contrast all the way up.
I think the most difficult part of this picture was to create some sort of a general focal point. Those dandelions that you see waving around in the sky kept catching my eye and it took me a little work to figure out how to to make them stand out from the rest. By getting down in close to them I was able to actually put them a against the blue and clouds.
I used an aperture of f22 to aid me in getting everything in focus or close to it. A fuzzy foreground and background would have ruined the picture.
